Welcome to My Military Social Network Boot Camp.
Boot Camp is a quick orientation designed to get you on the fast track
using our Network to it’s fullest potential.
Mission Statement
My Military Social is a not-for-profit Out-Reach
program dedicated to honoring those who serve and have served our
Country and their families through sharing of stories and memories and
by facilitating communication between Service Personnel and their
families during times of separation.
- You must either be in Service, or have been in
Service, or be a friend or family member of Service Personnel to
participate in the Network. - All posts to Forums must be on Topic.
- All posts to Forums must be positive.
- No hate or prejudice articles allowed.
- All must agree to respect the dignity of all who
participate in the Network. - No bullying of participants allowed.
- No profanity or vulgarity allowed.
- No adult content of any kind allowed.
- No ads masquerading as articles on the Forum.
All participants agree to abide by the Site
Protocols. We have a Police-Yourself Policy. All violators of site
protocols will be immediately removed from My Military Social along with
any content they have posted and banned from rejoining.
My Military Social has upgrades, advertising
spots, and advertising items for sale. We welcome Sponsors who will help
to grow and develop our Out-Reach program. Visit the Advertise Section
for details.
Participation
Currently there are two major areas all Members
can participate in: Posting Articles and Developing Friends. Plans are underway to incorporate a live webinar
platform which will enable Military Personnel to easily meet with
friends and family – no matter how far apart you are physically from one
another.
1. Posting
Articles
Everyone is encouraged to share experiences,
memories, stories, and information with one another by posting articles.
To post an article you must first Join a Group:
1. Join a Group:
Go to Groups in the Top Menu Bar. Choose a Group to join. Once you join
a Group, you can then Post an article to the Forum.
2. Post an Article: After you Join a Group, click on the Forum link for that
Group. Scroll down until you see the Form to make a Post.
- Enter in a Title in the Box.
- In the Content Form Box, type in your
article. Note that by default, links are not (and cannot be)
“clickable.” Clickable links are available for a small upgrade fee, and
can be purchased in the Advertise Section located
in the Top Menu. - Next, enter a tag word, or many tag
words. Separate each tag word with a comma. - If you belong to Facebook, you will see
a small icon “your facestream settings.” - Finally, click on the Post Topic Icon.

2. Friends and
Followers
Adding Friends and Following Members is easy.
Log into your Account at My Military Social. Go to Members in the top
menu. There, you will see a list of members. On the far right of each
member are two Icons: one to Add as a Friend, the other to Follow. Click
on each icon to Add or Follow. Once you do this, the Icons will change
to Cancel Friendship and You are now Following.

This concludes Orientation.
Now, you are invited to undertake the following assignments:
1. 1st
Assignment: Post your first article
- Log into your account at My Military Social.
- Go to Groups in the Top Menu.
- Choose one Group and join the Group.
- After you join the Group, select Forum.
- In the Forum, scroll down and find the Form to
create a new Post. - Fill in the Title Box.
- Write a brief article about yourself and why you
joined My Military Social in the Content Box. - Put a least one tag word or phrase in the Tag
Box. - Click on the Post Topic Icon.

2. 2nd
Assignment: Request a Friend or Follow a Topic
- Log into your account at My Military Social.
- Go to Members in the Top Menu.
- Choose a Member
- On the far Right of that member click on either
the Add a Friend Icon or the Follow Icon.

Assignment: Attend a Live Webinar (pending)
Advanced Participation:
- Become a Greeter:
Enjoy meeting new people and helping them feel
welcome and comfortable with our Network? Log into your account and then
contact Admin to volunteer to be a My Military Social Greeter.
- Moderate a Group
and Forum
Moderating a Group and Forum can be an
interesting and rewarding challenge. If your talents lay in this area,
please log into your account and then contact Admin to become a
Moderator for a specific Group and Forum.
